David worked for PCIC's ancestor, the Canadian Institute for Climate Studies, part time from 2002 to 2006 while completing his degree in computer science. During that time he developed several web-based database systems, developed the precursor to PCIC's Regional Analysis Tool, designed several websites, and performed numerous data analysis tasks. After being hired full time by PCIC in 2007, David extended his repertoire of skills to include the use of statistical programming languages, began creating PCIC's historical and projection data archive, and collaborated with PCIC staff on the report "BC Climate Overview: Hydro-climatology and Future Climate Impacts in British Columbia, December 2007".

At the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium, he is responsible for administering PCIC's servers and data archive, and does the bulk of PCIC's web applications development. He also assists PCIC staff with programming problems, implements statistical analysis routines, and converts and archives data from other organizations in standard formats such as NetCDF.

His work/research interests revolve around improving access to global climate model, regional climate model, and historical datasets with a focus on extracting and analyzing data for relevant climatic regions. David developed the PCIC Regional Analysis Tool and improved its interface and capabilities. He also develops and assists with implementation of new software tools.
