Whitney Huang

Research Associate

Whitney Huang is a statistician who has a particular interest in developing statistical methods/models for climate research. His research interests include statistics of extremes, spatio-temporal statistics, and design and analysis of computer experiments. His ultimate research goal, as a statistician, is to bridge the gap between Statistics and the Atmospheric/Oceanic Sciences.

Prior to joining PCIC, he spent one year as a SAMSI/UNC-Chapel Hill post-doc on the program of Mathematical and Statistical Methods for Climate and the Earth System. He received a Ph.D in Statistics from Purdue University, a Master degree in Statistics at University of Akron and a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan.

In PCIC, he is working on the project of modeling concurrent wind and precipitation extremes using the CanRCM4 ensemble.
