PCIC Director on CBC Victoria’s "On the Island"

Owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere up until December of this year have been about 5% lower than the same period in 2019. Yet, the trend of increasing carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere has continued apace. PCIC Director Francis Zwiers was recently invited onto CBC Victoria's On the Island to discuss why this is. In the interview, he also explains that, as a global society, we must reduce our carbon dioxide emissions to zero over the next few decades, and that even meeting our emissions reductions targets will resign us to some climate impacts (though these will be lesser in magnitude than if we fail to meet our targets).
