New PCIC Update

The March 2021 issue of the PCIC Update newsletter is now out. It opens with 2020: A Year in Review, which examines the last year and place is in climatological context. Two New Birds Join the DACCS Birdhouse covers the release of Chickadee and Quail, two new tools that perform downscaling and compute climate extremes indices, respectively. The third story, New Climate-Resilient Buildings and Core Infrastructure Report, covers the release of a that report provides an assessment of how climatic design data relevant to the National Building Code of Canada and the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code are projected to change in the future. Upcoming Talks in the Pacific Climate Seminar Series covers two talks, with the next one being on April 28th, Report on Wind and Power Outages Released covers a recent report led by PCIC researchers on winds and power outages in BC. In the final story, Introducing ClimateWest, we welcome ClimateWest, a regional climate services provider for the Prairie Provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta to the network of Canadian climate service providers.
